2024 Hyundai Kona Premium N-Line has now been ported to Midtown Madness 2.
Model from the 3D Configurator from Hyundai.
As this mesh is not really intended to be in a game, I’ve had to optimise it… A lot. Modelled the tyres, re-created materials, merged some areas as well. MM2 handles the detail of this model quite well, just be sure you’re using the latest MM2Hook.
I’m mostly a fictional car port type of guy, as I’ve always loved older games that couldn’t use real cars for either the violence involved in the game, grey area of legal methods (like street racing) or simply developers couldn’t or want to have licensing for the brands. However, these a reason why I decided to put the Hyundai Kona into MM2.
KDM cars are not super popular when it comes to mods, but also cars I’ve never considered owning the past.
I spent some time checking out spec sheets, and also driving mine.
All colours that are offered within the N-Line option pack are included in this mod, along with the factory options I opted in for.
As usual, grab it from the button below or you can continue reading about how terrible Toyota’s vehicles are today and my experience. Very happy owner of a Kona today.
I waited eleven months for my new 2024 TOYOTA C-HR GR-Sport, only for it to be riddled with multiple defects and poor workmanship, including problems with steering.
Toyota Australia did nothing to look after the situation so, after a two month ‘debate’ with the dealership and Toyota Australia, dealership offered me enough money for the car that I’ve barely owned and driven to take it it back (yes I lost $4,000). Fourteen parts needed to be replaced, and painted! (that I was aware of) Let alone the parts are in such a short supply so it was delay after delay.
Usually, I attempt to wash my cars weekly, in this case I’d find a new defect every time I washed the car. I’m quite particular when it comes to owning a vehicle, I care about where I park and what products I use to look after it.
So every single cosmetic fault I just kept looking at every time I got in the car (as I knew they were there). The more I looked at the vehicle, the more I could see just how wrong it all was.
You can see the panel gaps, and poorly lined up trim in this video. Wheels were out of alignment from factory, both front door glass had ‘seeds’ in them which can affect the strength of the glass too, which were both safety concerns to me.
After owning nothing but Toyota’s vehicles and have always been a happy owner of one, it was clear as day that to them I’m a drop in the ocean, and couldn’t care at all if I remained a customer or never returned – which was a shock. Toyota Australia have actually got what they wished for. I’ve purchased one of their competitor’s direct rival compact SUV, Hyundai Kona Premium N-Line which is my last FU to Toyota Australia.
Kona is actually well built, steel has a lot less flex (bonnet and roof are soft in Toyotas), doors are heavier, it can drive in a straight line (unlike the shitbox C-HR), panel gaps are all consistent throughout the whole car, trim is aligned and the glass is perfect. Oh and it’s sensors and parking assists don’t give you a heart attack. Toyota’s current generation ones slam the brakes on almost giving you whiplash when attempting to park in the garage…
So that is why I’ve decided on adding the Kona to MM2 😊
